Richard H for Model Number FTR17G4BW1 My freezer and refrigerator are not keeping my products cold enough. I turned the control knob in the frig all the way up and 2 days later still not cold. Watched your video on replacing the defrost timer and thought this was my problem but then read forum and saw that it might be the cold control switch. How do I know which one. Thanks
Answer Richard, It would be recommended to pull the rear cover in the freezer off and see if there is frost impacting the evaporator coils. If there is then this would be a defrost issue. You would want to test the defrost thermostat and defrost heater for continuity and if they check ok then the timer would be the issue. If there is very little frost on the coils and only loop down just a little from where they come into the freezer then this would be a sealed system issue and would need service. If there is a full even frost pattern from top to bottom without it impacting the coils then it would be more likely that the thermostat will be the issue. Read More...
