Jeff for Model Number LFFH217F7HWA The door was left open all night and since then it won't go below 21 deg. It was working fine till then. It was at 0 deg. I unplugged the freezer and plugged it back in but it's still not working. The top line on the evaporator freezes, the one where the defrost thermostat is. I checked the heater element and it was 24 ohms. I replaced the defrost thermostat but to no avail. I thought possibly of a leak since only part of the evaporator freezes but it gets to the lower 20's relatively fast. Also twice now it read 0 deg on the display but when I opened the door it went back to 31 deg real quick and a hi temp light came on. I did read in an earlier post of someone that had a similar problem and the tech said it was possibly the controller board. I am just trying to make absolute sure so I know which direction to go. I have also thought about the thermistor. Could this be the problem? I appreciate any assistance and thank you for your time. Jeff
Answer Jeff, Based on the description of the issue that is occurring. It sounds as though you may have a restricted sealed system. The evaporator coils should have a uniformed frost pattern from top to bottom and a even frost pattern. A unit that only the top coils are frosting up would be an indication that there is a leak or a restriction. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, April 17, 2014
