The Control Module is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. This electronic component manages and regulates the various functions of the refrigerator, including temperature control, defrost cycles, and the operation of fans and compressors.

You should replace the control module if it fails or malfunctions. Causes of a bad control module can include electrical surges, wear and tear over time, or exposure to moisture. Faulty wiring or damaged components within the module can also lead to failure.

Symptoms of a bad control module include:

  • Inconsistent or incorrect temperatures in the refrigerator or freezer
  • Refrigerator not cooling properly
  • Frequent cycling on and off of the compressor
  • Error codes displayed on the control panel

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Note: Control Only - Touchpad and housing no longer included.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Electronic Control (Part Number: OEM18999918)

Hello Greg, thank you for contacting APP, If the fan in the unit is running but the compressor is not then it is likely that either the Run Capacitor, the Controller/Start Device 216954218, or the Compressor 5304475098 has failed. If you are comfortable checking live voltage with a multimeter I would take a reading from the Yellow wire to the White wire at the compressor to see if you have about 120 volts AC when the fan inside the unit is running. If this voltage is present one of those components has failed. If there is no voltage present and the fan is running then there is possibly an internal wiring issue. If the fan and compressor are not running and there is no voltage then there is a control, thermistor, or wiring issue.

Greg, the start relay 216954218 would need to be tested for 120VAC. If there is not voltage, the main control 297235200 would be the likely cause of failure. However, if there is voltage, the failure would likely be in the start relay.

Trytryagain for Model Number glfh21f8hwh

I have a frigidaire model glfh21f8hwh upright freezer that the door ajar alarm keeps sounding. The alarm sound would reset when pushing button but still stay lit up. When testing the door switch manually the light wouldn't turn off so we ordered a replacement door switch and replaced it. After replacing it the new switch it still didn't turn the light on/off so the alarm sounded again. I ohm'd thru the old switch & new switch for continuity and both open/close properly for breaking the signal. I have already checked the wiring harness and have no issues there so we figured next step was the control board. Today, I installed a new control board (turns out I was sent a used one by local supply store so i dont know if this board is reliable) and it still does the same thing. What else could possibly be the issue? The freezer is cooling correctly, door is snug and everything works perfectly except that darn door alarm warning won't disengage.

Trytryagain, with the power cord unplugged and the control board removed, the wire connection would need to be unplugged and tested for continuity from the blue wire at pin 7 to the white wire at pin 8. If there is not continuity, there is a broken wire somewhere in the door or cabin that is preventing the control from sensing the door being closed based on the provided information. If this is the case, the same colored wires would need to be tested at the door hinge to identify if the wire failure is in the door. If there is continuity at the door hinge connection, the outer door panel 297317301 would need to be replaced.

Mike for Model Number FGHF2366PFAA

The LED's on my freezer door User Interface panel are illegible. When I scroll to change temps, they are clear and legible. But not when in normal operation mode. Freezer is working fine, but fridge is warm. I've changed the temp sensor in the refrigerator section and also the main control board under the freezer section. No change in operation. Could it simply be the User Interface panel that needs replacing? Does this User Interface panel actually control refrigerator temp??

1 Answer

Mike, the user interface 5304527930 is responsible for communicating the temperature setting to the main control. However, it is recommended that the damper 5303918899 and the return vent be inspected for any obstructions. If there is an obstruction, or if the damper does not open, the failure would need to be addressed. In regards to the interface LEDs not being legible, this would be a failure of the interface.

Hello Sam, the control module is held in to the door frame with clips, unplug the freezer from power using a putty knife carefully go in around the edge of the old control pressing in the clips one at a time and pull the module out, you can see the clip locations on the new module as a guide.

Heather for Model Number Lffh17f7hwh

Currently I have model LFFH17F7HWH. The door ajar alarm keeps going off. When I hit reset it's fine for a few then beeps again. Meanwhile the door ajar light stays on. There is nothing inside freezer of any obstruction. I took the wires off the door switch and hard word them together to buy pass the switch but still the same thing. One last thing we did was apply Vaseline all over the entire door seal. This made the door seal fit a little tighter but still getting the beeping.

1 Answer

Hello Heather, check the switch wiring, from the switch to the door, likely the wires have had a problem, if ok then the problem may be in the door control board.

Jim, Based on the information provided this would sound like you have a sealed system issue and would need a certified technician for these repairs.

Jim, Check the wiring of the unit to make sure that there are no loose or damaged wires. If the compressor is just shutting down but the fans are running then check the start device for being faulty.
