Jason Smith for Model Number GLFH21F8HWD When opening the door the power and light would flicker until the control panel has completely messed up. Replaced the control panel, then started it up. Panel looks like it is working now, and freezer will run but temperature on the control board does not decrease and get the e8 - thermistor short error code. Replaced thermistor and checked wiring harnesses and wiring, nothing appears out of the ordinary. Any ideas what is causing the e8 short, how to diagnosis the problem?
Answer Jason, Recheck the wiring harness at the bottom of the door hinge to make sure there aren't any frayed or damaged wires. Remove the control board, disconnect the wire harness and check across pin 1 and pin 2 in the harness connector. You should have a resistance reading of 10k ohms resistance at room temperature(77dgrs.F., and 32k ohms resistance at freezing(32 dgrs.F.) If you have the correct readings, replace the control again.
