Hello Walt, The thermostat could be bad, but 0°F is perfect for the freezer with an ice maker. I would first pull the kick plate off and vacuum the coils. If you cannot access them from the front, pull the unit out and remove the bottom rear cover and vacuum them from there. Most of the time when a unit runs continuously, it is having problems dissipating the heat it has removed from inside the unit back into the room. While you're back there you need to make sure the condenser fan is running.
