David S for Model Number GLRS267ZAW6 Hello I have a side by side frigidaire 2003 model. The refrigerator side freezes food and the freezer side appears ok. I have checked the damper door and it stays open, but when unplugged it closes. The closing spring is in tack and the door isn't damaged. I removed the evaporator core panel and there is a frost buildup on the evaporator core however it is all even. The freezer manual control will click when cycled full travel but the refrigerator control will not. I believe the refrigerator thermostat and the defrost temperature probe on the evaporator require replacement. Looking for a positive confirmation before replacing parts. Thank you in advance for any reply dave
Answer David, If you have an even frost pattern from top to bottom on the evaporator then there would not be an issue with the defrost system. The refrigerator thermostat would be the most likely cause for the unit to be freezing on the refrigerator side if the damper is staying open. Read More...
