Cossy for Model Number LFFH2067DW2

I have a 5 year old upright freezer that has started to run all the time unless it goes into defrost cycle. I have a thermometer in the freezer and it is at -10 to -12 degrees but keeps running. The unit has nothing covering it up on the sides. The sides and top get hot and the compressor is very hot. I get water on the floor when it is in a defrost cycle. I have tried to change the control knob on the inside from 6 to 2 but it keeps running even after a few hours. I can get it to stop running by turning the knob to off or close to it. Any ideas?

Answer

Cossy, The first idea would be a faulty Temperature control 5304513033, but there are other things to check first. Make sure the interior light goes out when the door is closed. Make sure the door seals to the front flange of the cabinet, when the door is closed(especially along the bottom) Check and clean the condenser coil on the back of the freezer and make sure there is a 2 or 3 inch space between the coils and the wall for proper air circulation. Check that the defrost drain tube is properly positioned in the drain pan, and the drain pan is not cracked or broken.
