Symptoms of a bad Drain Pump include:

  • Water not draining from the washer
  • Unusual noises coming from the pump area, indicating a blockage or failure

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Pepe for Model Number FWT647GHS0

Water comes through the drain hose constantly so the machine takes a very long time to fill and then needs to stop and refill often. It doesn't come through full blast, I'm pretty sure the pump is not running, but it's bad enough that a cycle can take a few hours. I assumed there was a solenoid stuck open but I don't see one. I took the pump out and don't see anything obviously wrong but I don't see what is supposed to keep the water from draining out all the time.

Answer

Pepe, You will want to make sure that the drain hose is not pushed down into the standpipe too far and also make sure that the standpipe is at a minimum of 29" off the floor. What is happening is that the unit is siphoning the water back out as it flows in.
