Deborah for Model Number FEFL77ASB

I followed all the instructions on several videos to replace my dual burner. All went well until I replaced the wires and saw that there was one fewer wiring terminal on the replacement than on the original. Apparently Frigidaire changed the design. So I did the best I could. I had taken pictures of the original wiring. But nothing came on. So I clearing had something miswired. How do I know where the are supposed ton go now? Also there was a small grounding wire that jumped from one small terminal to the other that it looks like there is no longer a need for. I hope this is true.

Answer

Deborah, the jumper wire would no longer be used as the new element has a built-in jumper bracket. The brown wire that was on the original element's ceramic block will go to the L-shaped terminal. The brown wire on the original element coil terminal will go to the middle coil terminal on the new element. The purple wire will go to the outermost terminal on the element coil. The last two wires will have smaller terminals and can plug into the smaller terminals on the opposite side of the ceramic block. Specific orientation would not be necessary.
