Manufacturer Part Number: 318601604

The Bake Element is an OEM component for Frigidaire wall ovens. It is an integrated heating coil that generates heat through electric resistance when powered. Located near the bottom of the oven cavity, the bake element facilitates heating for various cooking functions like baking, roasting, or warming. This element measures approximately 13 x 11 inches.

Symptoms of a bad bake element include:

  • Oven failing to reach or maintain desired cooking temperatures
  • Bake cycles taking excessively long periods of time
  • Hot or cold spots developing inside oven cavities
  • Error codes appearing related to upper heating issues

Causes can be cracks in ceramic sheathing allowing arcing, or mineral deposits coating coils over extended use impeding heat transfer.

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

Answer

Jerry, at the front of the wall oven the middle plate between the ovens would need to be removed and the power supply to the oven turned off. This should expose a screw on each side of the heater plate directly under the oven cavity. With the screws removed, the plate should be able to pull forward carefully, allowing access to the hidden bake element 318601604 and the wires. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not provide the resistance rating of the bake element. As this is the case, the element should have a resistance somewhere between 10O to 50O.
