Michael for Model Number FDB635RFR4

I had water leaking out from the bottom left side of the door. I replaced both the seal around the tub and the bottom door gasket, checked the lower spray arm for cracks, and made sure the float was moving freely. The new gasket has an extra notch in the middle, but I was told it would not cause a leak. When I run the dishwasher, it appears to be leaking through the middle notch. I then removed the door to make sure the bottom gasket was secure. Any other ideas? Is the float supposed to shut off the water after it reaches a certain height? Could that be the problem?

Answer

Michael, Yes, the float is supposed to shut off the water after it reaches a certain height. There is also a maximum fill time in th timer circuitry to help keep the dishwasher from overfilling if the float switch was to fail. You've apparently have done the basic checks and test, check and make sure the dishwasher is level front to back and side to side, make sure the dishwasher is properly secured to the cabinet. start the dishwasher and let it fill and wash for 3-5 minutes, unlatch the door, remove the lower rack and check the water level in the bottom of the tub, it should be slightly above to top of the "glass filter" at the least. If all's OK then suspect the detergent or rinse agent to be "sudsing" and leaking out the return opening in the seal.
