Matt for Model Number 587.14022200A The old seal has a 6" notch on one edge, while the new seal has a 1/4" notch. It seems like it's the wrong part, AND would leak a little even if it is correct. I can only guess why it would be intentional. But is it? Do I just ignore the size of the notch and install it? FYI: If deliberate, the only thing I can figure out is that it's designed to leak "a bit" thru the notch, as a warning, otherwise someone could open a malfunctioning unit full of water. But do I install, it or call customer service ASAP? Thanks
Answer Hello Matt, The lower seal is actually a splash guard. It has to have openings so it can be used as an air inlet for the dry cycle. It is believed that the notch was made larger to enhance air circulation during the dry cycle for a better drying effect. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, October 25, 2022
