Manufacturer Part Number: 5304525218

The Latch is an OEM part for Frigidaire dishwashers. It secures the dishwasher door during operation, ensuring a watertight seal that prevents leaks and allows the dishwasher to run efficiently.

Causes of a bad latch can include wear and tear from regular use, damage from slamming the door, or misalignment over time. Additionally, the latch mechanism can wear out, affecting its ability to hold the door shut.

Symptoms of a bad latch include:

  • Dishwasher door not closing or latching properly
  • Mid-cycle interruptions due to door opening
  • Leaks around the dishwasher door
  • The dishwasher not starting because the door is not securely latched

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Miguel for Model Number DGBD2432KF1

I recently replaced the door latch /strike on my machine and although the OEM one seemed to be a bit taller and the connections had to stretch a bit to connect the terminals to the replacement latch, it all worked good when I put it back together. Yesterday the dishwasher was in the middle of a wash cycle and someone opened the door mid cycle and closed it back again and the machine never resumed the cycle. I tried to "reset" the device by turn off the main power on the breaker for more than 1 hour, I have also tried to go into the diagnostic mode but can cycle 1-8 but the machine is non responsive. I cycle through the codes but it never starts any of the water or drain etc. I have power to the unit, I can select the wash mode but it just doesn't "kick in". I did have this problem when I first put the replacement latch in as one of the terminals was loose and I had to make sure that the cable was reaching it. Wondering if I should explore in replacing the door latch again or if there is another fuse and or area to look into? There is a small amount of water that has not drained since the cycle was interrupted but we have had the instanced in the past were the door was opened to add or remove something and it would resume with no issues. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I would hate to buy a new part just to learn that the issue is somewhere else

Answer

Miguel, It sounds likely that the door latch will be the issue with the unit and you would want to check the switches on the latch to make sure that they are good. If the switches check ok then the issue will be the control board.
