Kevin for Model Number Frigidaire FRS26H7CW0 Based on some troubleshooting and reading other posts, I believe I have a bad water fill switch. I currently have the ice maker removed and I'm wondering if there is a simple way to test the water fill switch? Also, the ice maker is about 4 years old. The original lasted about 4 years. The switch is about $25 and it looks like a new icemaker is $65. Is the typical ice maker life about 5 years? I'm guessing a replacement would be far more economical in the long run.
Answer Hello Kevin. If I'm understanding your question correctly, you are referring to the fill switch inside the ice maker. I quit replacing individual parts in ice makers about 10 years ago because of the wear on the other components. It's been my experience that if the repair is done perfectly, you still have to go back within a few months for another repair. In light of this fact I would replace the ice maker 5303918277 as a complete assembly. I would also recommend replacing the water inlet valve 242252702. Let us know if we can further assist you.
