The Oven Probe is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire electric ranges. As an essential safety device, it monitors internal temperatures accurately during baking and roasting cycles.  This probe measures approximately 8 inches.

Causes of a bad oven probe can include normal wear from continual high heat usage. Exposure to splatters or spills may damage fragile connection wires or compromise sensor accuracy over many years.

Symptoms of a bad oven probe are:

  • Inability to selectcooking modes like bake, roast or broil requiring temperature control
  • Faulty or inconsistent temperature readings during heating
  • Error messages regarding probe malfunctions
  • Premature heating element burnouts without regulating feedback

This part is also compatible with Electrolux and select Kenmore models.

Mr Twister for Model Number Frigidaire FFEH3054US

My oven temp is runaway. Set to 350, it heats to 430, then starts to slowly drop. I opened the door for a few moments, closed it, and the temp was 342. It climbed to 370, then slowly dropped to 351, then heated back to 390, and I shut it off. I asked the question here earlier, and tested the temperature probe resistance based on the input. It was dead on 1080 ohms. Based on that, I purchased a control panel, and still have the same problem. The wiring diagram only shows the probe and the control panel. What else can be going on? Thank you for your help.

Answer

Mr. Twister, the temperature probe may need to be tested when it is heated up. Using a heat gun or hair dryer to heat it up to 250°F, the resistance should measure 1453O, and at 350°F it should measure 1654O (temperatures verified with a thermometer). Based on the information provided, it sounds like the temperature probe is not registering the proper resistance at higher temperatures. However, a range will increase and decrease in temperatures to some degree as it levels out the average temperature to match the temperature selected.
