The Door Spring is an OEM part for Frigidaire dishwashers. It plays a critical role in the smooth operation of the dishwasher door, providing the necessary tension to ensure that the door opens and closes gently and securely. Without a functioning door spring, the door may drop open suddenly or be difficult to close, which can lead to potential hazards and inefficiencies in the kitchen.

Causes of a bad Door Spring can include stretching or snapping due to metal fatigue, corrosion from exposure to moisture and detergents, or improper alignment that leads to uneven wear and tear.

Symptoms of a failing Door Spring include:

  • The dishwasher door feeling unusually heavy or dropping open
  • A snapping sound when opening or closing the door
  • Difficulty in keeping the door closed or fully open
  • The door slamming shut rather than closing gently

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Hello Homeowner, This is most likely the fault of a bent door hinge. It could also be attributed to a bent frame. The unit needs to be pulled out far enough to inspect both sides. The tight side will be the way the other side should look. If you find the hinge is bent, you will see the difference by comparing it to the way the other side looks. You can also take measurements with a tape measure to compare for differences. Don't overlook the fact that a bent door will affect the door closure and cab also cause slack in the door springs.
