Homeowner for Model Number FGHD2433KW1 My dishwasher door was overextended after an accident. The hinge cables and springs were both intact, but the spring on the right side seems to be slightly loose when the door is fully closed. Should I replace just the spring or the hinge cable as well?
Answer Hello Homeowner, This is most likely the fault of a bent door hinge. It could also be attributed to a bent frame. The unit needs to be pulled out far enough to inspect both sides. The tight side will be the way the other side should look. If you find the hinge is bent, you will see the difference by comparing it to the way the other side looks. You can also take measurements with a tape measure to compare for differences. Don't overlook the fact that a bent door will affect the door closure and cab also cause slack in the door springs.
