K.A. for Model Number FRS26H5ASB4 I ordered this starter kit a month ago but did not install it until today because the freezer/fridge started working again, but yesterday the symptoms were back (buzzing for about 30 seconds, compressor not kicking on, things in the freezer starting to melt). I followed the instructions (the old starter had the wires on the bottom and the capacitor on top and the new starter has the capacitor on the bottom, the wires go on the top). The wires provided in the kit were white and I could not tell on the new part which was for the line (red) and which was for the neutral (blue) so I attached them as they displayed in the picture that was included with the instructions, with the red wire from the refrigerator being attached to the connector in the tab that was"on top" (closest to the edge) of the starter and the and the blue wire attached to the connector in the tab that was closer to the middle of the starter. I attached the kit to the compressor and plugged the refrigerator back in to see if it worked... there was a buzzing noise (like before) and after about 10 seconds, a "poof" sound and burning smell... and the starter (not the capacitor) was very warm. The compressor did not kick on. Is it possible that I attached the wires incorrectly or could there be some other problem? Have I fried the whole thing?
Answer Hello K.A. Red goes to Overload. Blue to number 2 of relay and Capacitor to number 3 of relay. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, September 29, 2014
