Julie for Model Number frt21ks5a Unplugged the fridge for a week when we plugged it in again it will not cool the freezer or the fridge, although the copper line from the compressor feels cold, and the compressor itself is warm after running. Had it plugged in overnight. The compressor usually makes a clicking noise but don't hear it now. Cleaned the coils and fan which were dusty. seems like a part of the freezer is trying to get cool, but not much. Could this be a thermostat or the start/run switch and capacitor?
Answer Hi Julie, thanks for contacting AppliancePartsPros.com. If both the condenser fan and evaporator fan are running, the compressor should be running too. If it’s not, the issue could be the compressor itself, the start relay, or the capacitor. That said, FRT21KSA is an incomplete model number, so I can’t look up part numbers for those components just yet. I’d also check the frost pattern on the evaporator and make sure the evaporator fan motor is running. If the frost pattern’s weak, you’re likely looking at a sealed system problem—one that’ll need a licensed tech to tackle. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, August 4, 2025
