James, The "flat" 5 pin connector attaches to the vent assembly. In most cases, this style connector has a "locking tab" that keeps it attached to the control. You press down, or in on the tab closest to the wiring and pull out on the harness and connector. The other end of the harness has a "molex" or "multiplug" connector. These connectors are "keyed" and will only fit and seat in one way. These connectors often have a "locking tabs" mounted on the sides of the connector, and you have to press in on the tabs closest to the wire harness, and pull out on the plastic connector. Another "trick" is to press the connectors together, then press on the "locking tab" release, and separate the connectors. Thanks
