Allan for Model Number JVM1740SM1SS Hi, This microwave (13 1/2 months old) does not heat the food. Everything works fine: the keypad functions are all there, the fan comes on, the turntable rotates, the light works, timer is ok, etc. It was OK when we left on vacation; did not work when we got home (have had a lot of thunderstorm activity). Is there a way to test the magnatron? Or are there other more likely causes? (Have unplugged it to attempt a reset-no diffeerence.) Thanks for your help! Allan
Answer Hi Allen. Does the magnetron growel when in action? The magnetron is tested with an ohm meter set on the highest scale. Reading across the terminals, you should read 0 ohms (or .5 ohms). Test both terminals to ground with one lead and make sure it is not shorted. This part Is part #WB27X10939. Also test the diode. Ohm meter on Rx1 scale, you should read continuity one way,and none the other way (reversing the leads). This part # is WB27X10597. Thank you. Read More...
