By: Ge
Part Number: OEM17007663
Manufacturer Part Number: WR02X13684

The Water Filter Manifold is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. Its primary function is to channel and distribute water from the external water supply to the refrigerator's water dispenser and ice maker. This manifold serves as a connection point for the water filter, ensuring that water is properly filtered before reaching the dispenser and ice maker.

Causes of a bad filter manifold can include wear and tear from repeated filter changes, cracks or breaks due to impact, or leaks from deteriorated seals.

Symptoms of a bad filter manifold include:

  • Leaks around the water filter area
  • Reduced water flow or pressure
  • The water filter not fitting securely
  • Unusual tastes or odors in the filtered water

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Tim for Model Number GFE29HMDCES

Water dispenses slowly from the door. Has always been this way (slow flow). I’ve run with new filters and with bypass in place. Ice maker makes ice but quantity seems less that I would expect. Wondering how to trouble-shoot whether it’s a control valve (and which is which ... I assume “IM” is ice-maker?) or the filter manifold. I’m guessing filter manifold as it would affect both water dispenser flow and ice maker output but would appreciate suggestions on how to better isolate.

Answer

Hello Tim, it sounds like the refrigerator has a water supply with low pressure. In general, appliances using a water supply need a minimum of 35 psi with the valve open under load. You can check your house water pressure with a water pressure gauge available at a local home Improvement store in their plumbing section. If you have low pressure you can opt to use a filter bypass plug WR01X29059 and not use a filter for better water flow, as the filter cartridge under low water pressure conditions slows the water flow significantly. If your home water pressure tests correctly meaning 35 psi or higher, check the water supply connection from the refrigerator to the house plumbing, it may be kinked, restricted or if the installer used a saddle valve type of connector.
