Jim for Model Number hts17BBMBBCC My freezer has frosted up and the refrigerator section is not cooling. I removed all of the ice and looked at the defrost heater WR51X10038. I did not remove the heater but I noticed that there appeared to be some moisture inside the tube. This heater was replaced about a year ago. Is it common to have moisture in the defrost tube? How can I test to see if the heater is coming on when required?
Answer Jim, It is possible for the heater to have moisture in it. One way to tell if your heater is good is if the defrost thermostat is cold you can advance the defrost timer and see if the heater come on. If it does not then test the defrost thermostat for continuity and the defrost heater for continuity. If it does come on then you will want to replace the defrost control WR9X502. Read More...
