Cl4 for Model Number GE French Door Refrigerator PFSF6PKXAWW I have a GE French Door fridge PFSF6PKXAWW. Water leaks into the ice maker, freezing the cubes together. The ice maker also drips water into the fridge below the ice maker and also out through the ice dispensing chute. Would replacing the ice maker assembly (AP 4321616) fix this, or would this be caused by something like a water valve leak? If we order and install an ice maker assembly but the problem still occurs, can we return it? These parts are quite expensive, so I don't want to take a risk of installing a part that doesn't fix the problem. Thanks.
Answer CL4, the ice maker fill tube will need to be inspected for leaking water. If there is water leaking down the fill tube, then the water valve WR57X10082 has failed. If there is not, then the ice cubes can be used to determine if the temperatures are where they need to be. If the ice cubes are glossy as if they are just barely frozen enough, then the temperatures are not where they need to be and the ice maker fan WR60X10255 will need to be checked for obstructions as well as the thermistor WR23X10580 in the auger motor assembly.
