Patrick for Model Number PSW23PSTASS My FF temp display is 45-55F. Fridge runs constantly to try reduce temp. Actual temp with independent thermometer will reach 20-25F and FF compartment is frozen. The issue began about a 6 weeks ago and continued for a week then appeared to somewhat correct itself although FF temp readout would not read below 39 even when 37F commanded but freezing condition did not continue. Issue of FF compartment high temp readout and associated FF compartment freeze returned yesterday. Replaced FF thermistor; temp readout remains high and freeze condition continues. Is replacing the main control board WR49X10152 the next step? Thank you. Patrick
Answer Patrick, Replacing the main control board/"mother board" should be the last resort. First check and clean the condenser coil in the compressor compartment, and front kickplate/grille. Check and make sure the temperature sensor and air tunnel openings aren't "blocked" by articles on the shelves. The you'll need to remove the "custom cool" drawer and check the air plenum and the Damper assembly to make sure the damper doors are opening and closing properly. Read More...
