Claudia for Model Number AP3994516 This is a follow up to my previous question. My mother's GE microwave is JVM1640WJ01. Can you clarify what is the "short out capacitor"? Since I have to give all these instructions to my elderly mother, do you have a diagram that I could use to fax this to her? thank you.
Answer Hi Claudia. The transformer, diode, capacitor, and magnetron are all considered "high voltage" and a life and death danger. You should consider letting a qualified trained technician diagnose the issue of the "NO-Heat". The question answered will be as such.... The Capacitor stores high voltage. You use a isolated needle nose pliers to remove the connectors on the capacitor. Then you take the pliers and "short- out" the capacitor terminals against itself. Doing this a few times one after another. This will discharge the capacitor so it is safe to test further with a test meter. Be safe and let us know if we can help further. Thank you. Read More...
