The Display Control Board is an OEM part for GE microwaves, designed to serve as the central hub for the appliance's electronic controls and display. This component is responsible for managing various functions, including the microwave's timing, power levels, and cooking presets, as well as displaying information to the user through the digital screen..

The causes of these issues can range from electrical surges damaging the board's components, to wear and tear from regular use, or even moisture infiltration from cooking processes.

Symptoms of a failing Display Control Board include:

  • The microwave display not lighting up or showing incomplete information
  • Buttons not responding or the microwave failing to start cooking cycles
  • Erratic behavior, such as the microwave starting on its own or not following selected settings
  • Error codes appearing on the display, indicating faults within the system

This OEM GE  part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Answer

Tracy, the low voltage transformer WB17X10021 would need to be tested for resistance while the power supply cord is unplugged. The primary winding should measure 23.2O. Then the secondary windings would be tested from the yellow wire to the black wire for 1.5O, black wire to white wire for 5.2O, and red wire to brown wire for 1.1O. If these test good, the next step would be to verify that all wire connections at the control panel are secured properly. If the wires are secure, then it would most likely be a failure in the power board WB27X10858.
