Joe for Model Number PSS26SGPA

My refrigerator temp. gets as low as 31 degrees F. over night. I have raised the temp from the factory setting of 37 to 39 degrees and nothing changes. I noticed that the 3.0 LBS. light on the Express Thaw setting stays on all the time. I have followed the oweners manaul instructions and have set the Express Thaw setting to where no light is on. I close the door and reopen the door and the 3.0 LBS. light is on again. Is this light suppose to stay on or is it my problem. The Freezer is set to factory settings and falls to -2. Thank you.

Answer

Joe, The freezer setting to -2 would not be an issue as there is a +/- 5 degree normal fluctuation for the freezer compartment. The express thaw light coming on would be an issue but would not cause the refrigerator setting to get to 31 degrees as there should only be a +/- 3 degrees for the refrigerator. Since the setting of the express thaw keeps coming on then there would be an issue with the user interface WR55X10390 but you will want to check to make sure that the damper door in the refrigerator compartment is does not have a broken door or staying open. Check the thermistors for resistance for the refrigerator compartment. At 37 degrees the resistance should be 14.4K ohms. At 77 should be 5K ohms and at 0 should be 42.2K ohms. If outside the range then the thermistor would need to be replaced.
