Questions & Answers

For Ge Refrigerator Damper Assembly (Part Number: OEM11326794)

1 Answer

Mike, The damper will not cause temperatures to rise in the freezer compartment. You will want to check for the unit staying in defrost too long or there being a defrost problem. Check the thermistor on the evaporator to see if the resistance is 36.6K ohms while sitting on the evaporator coil.

Hello Don, There is nothing in the appliance that can cause an unpleasant odor or taste. This would have to come in from the water supply from the plumbing. The water dispenser has a filter so it will not have the same issue.

Our GE Profile makes a clicking noise every couple seconds, for around 5 minutes, a few times a day. The sound is coming from the back, so it must be the control board. In-between the clicks, the damper is making a sound. Hard to describe - maybe a mechanical gurgling or tapping? Sometimes it makes this sound without the clicking. I don't know if it's normal or not. The fridge light also flickers slightly with the clicks. Knowing nothing, I'm imagining that the board is trying to open or close the damper over and over until it finally succeeds. Sometimes it's stuck, sometimes not. Could this be the case? Could the problem be only a bad damper assembly or only the control board, or is it most likely both? Any advice on how to diagnose or proceed?

Lisa, It would be more likely the relay on the control board is faulty and would recommend that the control board be replaced for this issue.

Julio, the most accurate way to test the fan motor is to test for voltage supply. Using a meter, the red probe would go to the red wire and the black probe would go to the black/white wire of the wired connection while the door switch is taped in the shut position. If there is a 12 Volt DC supply and the fan is not operating, the fan has failed.

Hello David, You should try adjusting the temperature in the fresh food compartment to a COLDER setting. I know you will first say this is backward and will cause more of a problem, but actually setting the control to a bit colder in the fresh food compartment will cause the unit to circulate the air more often in there, preventing the colder air from settling to the bottom and freezing items in the drawers. This is a common complaint and I have seen it multiple times through the years and this will help solve the issue.

JohnB, They are all the same part number in this model. You should test them before replacing to identify the failure and you should be testing any located in the freshfood section.
