Billy July 27, 2023 for Model Number GSS25GMHKCES My GE refrigerator is over freezing in the food section side. Gets too cold on the refrigerator side. It was suggested it might be the damper assembly. Can you tell me the model # for the Damper Control Assembly . Model # GSS25GMHKCES
Michaela January 17, 2023 for Model Number PSI23MGNABB The blue and white wires on the new part have swapped positions. Is this going to cause a problem with installing the new part?
Mike October 31, 2022 for Model Number PSS26NSWASS fridge is warm at times and at others it colder. freezer is warm. Fridge reads 35 and has gone up to 42. Freezer is at 9. Compressor relay switch was replaced and the fridge worked fine for over 2 weeks. Now the temps fluctuate. All else has been tested or checked. Someone mentioned the air damper.
1 Answer Mike, The damper will not cause temperatures to rise in the freezer compartment. You will want to check for the unit staying in defrost too long or there being a defrost problem. Check the thermistor on the evaporator to see if the resistance is 36.6K ohms while sitting on the evaporator coil. Read More...
Dave February 17, 2022 for Model Number PSS25NGNABB The openings in this part are different. Should I modify them to match? Maybe by melting hole a hole in the bottom discharge location? They have on side side discharge open and I can remove the blank off. The reason is that this fridge has the lower veggie bins with special cooling controls. Without mods the bottom bins have no supply!
1 Answer Hello Dave, this is the correct service replacement damper for your model, the manufacturer has modified this part from the original design to prevent a reoccurring problem of foods freezing in the ref section. Read More...
Don July 23, 2021 for Model Number GSS25LGPACC Ice develops an unpleasant odor quickly. Dispensed water is OK. No obvious odors in the compartments. Have cleaned the freezer and fresh food sides and shelves thoroughly. Is there a chance that the ice maker (18-year-old original) and/or the GE Refrigerator Damper Assembly WR49X10091 (replaced 6 years ago) could be the source of the bad taste?
1 Answer Hello Don, There is nothing in the appliance that can cause an unpleasant odor or taste. This would have to come in from the water supply from the plumbing. The water dispenser has a filter so it will not have the same issue. Read More...
Lisa E March 17, 2021 for Model Number PSCS3RGXCFSS Our GE Profile makes a clicking noise every couple seconds, for around 5 minutes, a few times a day. The sound is coming from the back, so it must be the control board. In-between the clicks, the damper is making a sound. Hard to describe - maybe a mechanical gurgling or tapping? Sometimes it makes this sound without the clicking. I don't know if it's normal or not. The fridge light also flickers slightly with the clicks. Knowing nothing, I'm imagining that the board is trying to open or close the damper over and over until it finally succeeds. Sometimes it's stuck, sometimes not. Could this be the case? Could the problem be only a bad damper assembly or only the control board, or is it most likely both? Any advice on how to diagnose or proceed?
1 Answer Lisa, It would be more likely the relay on the control board is faulty and would recommend that the control board be replaced for this issue. Read More...
Julio December 14, 2020 for Model Number PSS26SGRBSS I have a manual from GE that says that to check the FF fan I need to measure the resistance across the fan and that if it is higher than zero, the fan is open and we need to change it. When I measure the resistance in my fan, I find that it is more than 4 Mohms... then I order this part and when it arrives it also measures more than 4 Mohms... Did they send me a bad part? Thanks!
1 Answer Julio, the most accurate way to test the fan motor is to test for voltage supply. Using a meter, the red probe would go to the red wire and the black probe would go to the black/white wire of the wired connection while the door switch is taped in the shut position. If there is a 12 Volt DC supply and the fan is not operating, the fan has failed. Read More...
David S. December 11, 2020 for Model Number ZFSB23DNDSS Ordered part AP3775595 - refrigerator damper assembly- which is compatible with my GE refrigerator. Vegetables/ fruits were freezing. I removed the old part and noted the damper door was broken. I replaced the complete part with your new part. Items in the same bin are freezing again. Is the new assembly bad?
1 Answer Hello David, You should try adjusting the temperature in the fresh food compartment to a COLDER setting. I know you will first say this is backward and will cause more of a problem, but actually setting the control to a bit colder in the fresh food compartment will cause the unit to circulate the air more often in there, preventing the colder air from settling to the bottom and freezing items in the drawers. This is a common complaint and I have seen it multiple times through the years and this will help solve the issue. Read More...
Johnb August 23, 2020 for Model Number PSH25PGSA BV The FF section on this GE will not reach the recommended 37deg and seems to remain in the low 40s. The freezer seems to be OK around +1 to -2. Which temperature sensor needs to be changed? Are all 3 temp sensors in this model identical and interchangable? They seem to have the same part number.
1 Answer JohnB, They are all the same part number in this model. You should test them before replacing to identify the failure and you should be testing any located in the freshfood section. Read More...
Kenny S. May 16, 2020 for Model Number GE GSHS6LGBBHSS The fresh food section will not cool off, I don't feel any air blowing from the freezer, The temp sensors checkout good, the defrost element ohms out 22 ohms, havent't cheked the the thermostat yet, both the evaporator and condensor fans running. Could it be the domper contol assembly?
1 Answer Hello Kenny, yes, check, and if needed replace, the damper assembly WR49X10091 at this point., Read More...
