Susan R for Model Number psc23ngnaww I ordered this for my appliance and this new replacement part is showing to have too thick of a gasket for that AND the spout that comes with this new one to fit on my refrigerator. I would like some installation instructions on how this is supposed to work on my appliance. And I would also like to know if this spout piece that came with the kit is necessary.
Answer Susan, Below are instructions for replacing the damper assembly. The gasket is the correct size and will compress. The spout piece will go into the damper side of the assembly. 1. Remove light shield and rear light bulb from the top tower of the refrigerator. 2. Pull top two shelves out approximately two inches. 3. Pull tower assembly with both hands. Push tower right then left to expose screws. Remove screws. 4. Remove air duct by pulling straight back. Some models have complete horseshoe, some models have air duct on either side of light, and some models do not have an air duct. 5. Remove filter housing cover. Press in left side and pull straight out. Remove light assembly by removing four to eight screws (depending on model). 6. Remove existing damper assembly. 7. Install new damper assembly wr49x10091 8.. Reinstall all parts. When reinstalling light shield, screw in frame on one side, then position aluminum light housing, and finally screw in other side of frame. When reinstalling air duct, hold up duct in its proper grooves, then slide duct backwards. Make certain air duct tabs go in slots as shown. Read More...
