Bob for Model Number GSS23QGTAWW My Model GSS23QGTAWW refrigerator was freezing food in the fresh food section. Following the do it yourself stories, I replaced the Refrigerator Damper Assembly assuming that was the problem. When I removed it I found that the door didn’t appear to be broken as I expected. The replacement Assembly didn’t solve the problem. The fresh food side is still staying around 27-28 degrees. So next was to replace the 2 thermistors in the fresh food side. I found one of them to appear faulty with a rounded head and black bottom. Yes! This must be the problem. Nope. The temperature is still holding around 27-28 degrees. Whats next? Is it possible that the replacement damper assembly is faulty? Or is there something else that I am overlooking?
Answer Bob, With the unit getting to 27 to 28 degrees you will want to test the thermistors at the main control board to make sure that you are getting the proper resistance. The resistance at that temp should be around 18K ohms. If the thermistors check ok then the issue will most likely be that the control board is not reading the thermistor resistance properly and control would need to be replaced. Read More...
