Carol for Model Number PFSS0MFZE SS We have a GE Profile French door refrigerator with bottom freezer. It has been a problem since we purchased it. The mother board had to be replaced after a few months. It seemed to be fine...it is now 5 years old. About 7 months ago everything in the bottom section of the fridge started freezing. We had it serviced. Apparently the damper assembly needed replacing. Repair was almost $500. Now it is freezing again. I can only store food in the top half of the fridge....everywhere else freezes. We have replaced the seals but did not solve the problem. Is this worth fixing? I have tried to contact GE several times about this issue and issues with their dishwasher. Any suggestions?
Answer Carol, The damper duct assembly for your unit would be part number WR17X12573 and would be the most likely issue but you will also want to test the thermistors in the unit. Check to make sure that the thermistors at room temp of 77 degrees is 5K ohms of resistance. If this checks ok the damper will likely be the issue. Read More...
