Part Number: OEM17410692
Manufacturer Part Number: WB27X21609

The Transformer is an OEM part for GE gas cooktops. This component is responsible for converting electrical power to the necessary voltage required for the cooktop's ignition system to function correctly.

Replace this transformer if it fails to supply the proper voltage, leading to ignition issues. Common causes of a bad transformer include electrical surges, overheating, or normal wear and tear over time.

Symptoms of a bad Gas Cooktop Transformer include:

  • Burners not igniting or taking longer to ignite
  • Clicking sound without ignition
  • No power to the ignition system
  • Flickering or inconsistent burner flames

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Ken for Model Number ZGU385LSMSS 36" Gas Cooktop

The center burner does not light. When you turn any other burner (control knob) on, the other 4, they all spark and they all ignite. In fact, the way these cooktops work is, if you turn ANY control knob on, they all spark, but only the single burner for that control knob ignites. So ALL igniters spark, when any control knob is turned on, except when you turn the center control knob. When the Center control knob is turned on, no igniter sparks, neither the center, nor any other. I did switch igniters between the center burner and a side burner, and they both work fine. I also switched wires at the ports at the spark module with two different side burners and the center burner, and nothing changed. As before, all igniters spark when the side burner control knobs are turned on (including the center igniter), but like before, when the center control knob is turned on, no igniter sparks, none. When any control knob is turned on it lights up red as well as the center knob. I don't know if this is standard operation or not. When I turn the center knob, it lights up red, however, no igniter sparks as I have said before. I then got a new wiring harness. I removed the existing one and replaced with this new harness, but nothing changed. So at this point it would seem to be either the Center Gas valve, or the ASM LED Harness. Any thoughts?

Answer

Ken, we don't expect the transformer to be the issue, but you will want to check the center ignition switch on the gas valve for a closed circuit in the "lite" position and an open circuit in the off position. If the switch and wiring WB18X23942 Harness Wire Switch check OK, then replace the spark module WB13T10076 Spark Module.
