Jeff B February 11, 2022 for Model Number ZGU385NSM2SS My ignitors were not working. I checked the out voltage of the transformer and had nothing, so I replaced the transformer. I checked the new transformer and had 12v and 240v on the out terminals. After reassembly, the ignitors initially worked, but then stopped working. I rechecked the transformer and now had no voltage on the out terminals. Is it possible that some other part is shorting out the transformer?
1 Answer Hello Jeff, there is likely a short or wiring problem with the cooktop wiring, the transformer had overheated from this overload and its internal safety thermal fuse opened disabling the transformer, the new transformer failed the same way. Read More...
Vonnie April 04, 2021 for Model Number zgu85nsmss I replaced the transformer when the ignitors weren't working. All seems to be hooked up correct, but it got really hot. Is it being that hot normal?
1 Answer Vonnie, If the correct voltage is getting to the transformer then yes it is possible for it to get hotter than you would expect. Read More...
Kenny August 27, 2020 for Model Number ZGU385LSM1SS The center burner does not spark nor ignite using its control knob. However, gas flows and it can be ignited manually. The center burner does spark when any of the other 4 burners are turned on (they all do). All other 4 burners spark and ignite when individually turned on. So ALL igniters spark, when any control knob is turned on, except when you turn the center control knob. When the Center control knob is turned on, no igniter sparks, neither the center, nor any other. I did switch igniters between the center burner and a side burner, and they both work fine. I also switched wires at the ports at the spark module with two different side burners with the center burner, and nothing changed. That should eliminate the spark module as the issue. When any control knob is turned on it lights up red as well as the center knob. When I turn the center knob, it lights up red, however, no igniter sparks as I have said before. I replaced the wiring harness with a new one, but nothing changed. So at this point it would seem to be either the Center Gas valve, or the ASM LED Harness. Any thoughts?
1 Answer Kenny, I would recommend checking the wiring and the ignitor switch for the center burner with a multi-meter as all else seems to be eliminated. Read More...
Julianna August 14, 2020 for Model Number ZGU375LSD2SS I have a 36" GE monogram LP gas cooktop, model ZGU375LSD2SS. All five burners are not clicking or sparkling and would not turn on. To temporarily use the burners, I have to manually light it. I replaced all 5 ignitors and the re-ignitor module. I cleaned the electrodes too. I checked the outlet; it works fine. The cooktop is still not working. Please help
1 Answer Julianna, It would be recommended to check the wiring and test each of the spark switches that are on the burner valves. They should all have continuity in the lite position. If they do not then they will need to be replaced. Read More...
Frank May 28, 2020 for Model Number ZGU486NDPSS Recently my cooktop range started making a humming noise . It does this constantly even when it is not in use. it sounds like others have had the same problem and suspect a bad transformer. Any idea or history of this? Stove works fine otherwise
1 Answer Hello Frank, yes, the noise is from the transformer, it is powered as long as the cooktop is plugged into an electrical outlet, what it does is boost the incoming 120v to 240v to be used by the spark module. Transformers can sometimes become noisy with a humming noise in the 60 cycle range and transmit that noise to the frame of the cooktop. It is replaceable if needed part WB27K10298. Read More...
Ken February 15, 2020 for Model Number ZGU385LSMSS 36" Gas Cooktop The center burner does not light. When you turn any other burner (control knob) on, the other 4, they all spark and they all ignite. In fact, the way these cooktops work is, if you turn ANY control knob on, they all spark, but only the single burner for that control knob ignites. So ALL igniters spark, when any control knob is turned on, except when you turn the center control knob. When the Center control knob is turned on, no igniter sparks, neither the center, nor any other. I did switch igniters between the center burner and a side burner, and they both work fine. I also switched wires at the ports at the spark module with two different side burners and the center burner, and nothing changed. As before, all igniters spark when the side burner control knobs are turned on (including the center igniter), but like before, when the center control knob is turned on, no igniter sparks, none. When any control knob is turned on it lights up red as well as the center knob. I don't know if this is standard operation or not. When I turn the center knob, it lights up red, however, no igniter sparks as I have said before. I then got a new wiring harness. I removed the existing one and replaced with this new harness, but nothing changed. So at this point it would seem to be either the Center Gas valve, or the ASM LED Harness. Any thoughts?
1 Answer Ken, we don't expect the transformer to be the issue, but you will want to check the center ignition switch on the gas valve for a closed circuit in the "lite" position and an open circuit in the off position. If the switch and wiring WB18X23942 Harness Wire Switch check OK, then replace the spark module WB13T10076 Spark Module. Read More...
Oliver October 02, 2018 for Model Number ZGU385NSM2SS Water spilled on my GE Monogram cooktop. It would not lite nor would the knob lights come on. I got a new ignitor harness and still no luck. I checked the transformer. I am getting power in and out, but once anything connects to the transformer harness, I don't get any power on the out side of the transformer. Once the harness is disconnected, the power comes back to the out side. I can't figure it out, but I think the transformer is bad.
1 Answer Hello Oliver, If there is 12Vac from terminal 1 to terminal 2 and 240Vac from terminal 1 to terminal 3 the transformer is fine. It sounds like you have a problem with the spark module WB13T10076. Read More...
Jim October 24, 2017 for Model Number ZGU385NSMSS Any recalls on this model? Every 4 - 5 years I have to replace the transformer due to failure of the primary winding, and also replace the igniter wiring harness due to failure of the resistor circuit on one or more of the circuits. Bought the cook top in 08, replaced the parts in 2013 and now need to replace them again in 2017. Same exact problem. Any clues/suggestions/reviews that might help fix these weak designed circuits/parts?
1 Answer Jim, Unfortunately we do not show any recalls on the parts and there would be no way to improve the design of the parts above what the manufacturer has done. Read More...
David October 21, 2017 for Model Number ZGU384NSM2SS The ignitors do not work on the cooktop. I was wondering what the most common problem would be for this situation.
1 Answer David, You can test the transformer from pin 1 to pin 2 for 12 vac and from pin 1 to Pin 3 for 240 vac. If this checks ok then the issue will most likely be a faulty spark module. Read More...
Jeff T October 03, 2017 for Model Number ZGU385NSM1SS I have no spark. I checked all the switches suing instructions to measure resistance back to the transformer and they all seem good. So I am presuming that it is a problem with the spark module or transformer. Is there a way to determine which it might be? Or should I just go trial and error and order one and try it?
1 Answer Jeff, You will want to test the continuity of the ignition switches to make sure that there is continuity. If these check ok and the transformer checks ok then this will be a faulty spark module. You can test the output of the transformer for 12 vac from pins 1 to pin 2 for 12 va and from pin 1 to pin 3 for 240 vac. Read More...
