Adam for Model Number ge profile trash compactor My trash compactor makes a loud banging noise when the trash is compacted. The only way to get it to stop is to try to open the door then the ram returns up. When i inspected the drive nut assembly it was not visibly broken but i did notice some metal was shaved off of the drive screws. I cleaned this up and put some grease on the screw hoping it would solve the problem but no such luck. Do you think the nuts are just worn out?
Answer Adam, It is very possible that the nuts are just worn but also check the directional switch to make sure that the switch is not damaged or defective. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, November 2, 2016
