Gene for Model Number Kenmore Elite #795-74093-410 I have a Kenmore Elite #795-74093-410 refrigerator and get an Error Code of Er IF, which says the Ice Fan has failed. Sears says to replace both the Ice Fan and the Control Board to fix the problem. If I simply unplug the refrigerator and plug it back in, it works perfectly for approximately 4 hours and the error code shows up again. It seems to me that if the ice fan failed, and I unplug/replug the refrigerator, the error should show immediately, not 4 or more hours later. It makes me think that it might be some bad sensor somewhere in the refrigerator that needs replacement instead of the Ice Fan and Control Board. I have no ice build up in the freezer compartment that is visible without removing any parts. Everything works perfectly after the unplug/replug sequence. Am I mistaken or is the fix really the Ice Fan and the Control Board?
Answer Gene, this error can be caused by a short in the fan or by a failure in the main control. The fan should have an incoming 12VDC and an outgoing 2-7VDC signal. If the incoming voltage is good but the outgoing is wrong, the fan ABA72913415 has failed and would need to be replaced. If the incoming voltage is not good or both voltages test good, the failure would be in the main control EBR78940605. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Sunday, February 13, 2022
