The Ice Room Fan Motor is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It circulates cold air within the ice compartment to maintain the optimal temperature for ice production and storage. By ensuring even air distribution, the fan motor helps keep the ice at the right consistency and prevents it from melting or clumping together.

The ice room fan motor can fail due to various reasons, including wear and tear from continuous use, electrical issues, or obstruction from ice buildup. Over time, the motor bearings can wear out, or the fan blades can become damaged.

Symptoms of a bad ice room fan motor include:

  • The ice maker not producing ice or producing less ice than usual
  • Ice melting or clumping together
  • Unusual noises coming from the ice compartment
  • Temperature fluctuations in the ice room

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore refrigerators.

Gene for Model Number Kenmore Elite #795-74093-410

I have a Kenmore Elite #795-74093-410 refrigerator and get an Error Code of Er IF, which says the Ice Fan has failed. Sears says to replace both the Ice Fan and the Control Board to fix the problem. If I simply unplug the refrigerator and plug it back in, it works perfectly for approximately 4 hours and the error code shows up again. It seems to me that if the ice fan failed, and I unplug/replug the refrigerator, the error should show immediately, not 4 or more hours later. It makes me think that it might be some bad sensor somewhere in the refrigerator that needs replacement instead of the Ice Fan and Control Board. I have no ice build up in the freezer compartment that is visible without removing any parts. Everything works perfectly after the unplug/replug sequence. Am I mistaken or is the fix really the Ice Fan and the Control Board?

Gene, this error can be caused by a short in the fan or by a failure in the main control. The fan should have an incoming 12VDC and an outgoing 2-7VDC signal. If the incoming voltage is good but the outgoing is wrong, the fan ABA72913415 has failed and would need to be replaced. If the incoming voltage is not good or both voltages test good, the failure would be in the main control EBR78940605.

Robbie, the ice maker will not dump the ice into the ice bin if the ice maker does not reach less than 1°F. If the compressor is running non-stop and there is not a full frost pattern on the evaporators, the sealed system may have an issue that would require a certified freon technician to identify.

Lw for Model Number Kenmore Elite 795.72043.112

I have a Sear's Kenmore Elite showing an error code ER 1F. Within 12 hours the error code vanished and the electronic control panel now seems to be working correctly. Two weeks prior after having not completely shut the bottom freezer door overnight the refrigerator iced up in the freezer compartment on the back wall and had to be defrosted before the refrigerator would cool the top and bottom compartments. No error code showed at that time. My question: Is a component starting to fail intermittently? Cooling fan motor #: ABA72913413 ? Do you think that these events two weeks apart are related? What is the best coarse of action at this time? Thanks, LW

1 Answer

LW, It is very likely the situations are related. Er 1f, Er IF, Er 1F, or just 1F, IF, or F1. These error codes are all indicating the same thing (ICE MAKER FAN). The true error code for a faulty Ice maker motor or Ice blower fan is “1F” as per the LG refrigerator error code database. We would recommend, you check and make sure the freezer door is closing and sealing properly, first. With frost and ice accumulating on the evaporator and inside the evaporator compartment, the fan(s) could or would be restricted by the ice and frost in the air tunnels and produce the error code. You'll probably be fine for a while, but if the error code returns, replace the ice maker fan.
