Joe for Model Number LG WM2050C I assume I need a new drain pump. The machine "rests" between the wash and rinse cycle. At this time a rattle starts that can best be described as a couple of dice in a cup. Water is then pumped from the discharge and the rattle stops. All stages of the wash, rinse, and spin cycle work fine. There are no strange noises, and the pump pumps strong. My only concern is that the noise is the pump cavitating due to a) an air leak b) a worn pump, or c) a restriction on the intake side. Is there anything I should check before replacing the pump? I should add, the drain lines appear clear, and the filter is clean.
Answer Joe, it is recommended that the drain pump 4681EA2001T impeller is inspected for any debris that may be stuck between the impeller and sidewall. If there is no debris, then either the impeller shaft is shifting in the bearing, or the impeller is worn where it connects to the shaft. Read More...
