Monica for Model Number LG TROMM DLE7177RM My dryer has been working sporadically. It will turn on and work fine most of the time, but then it will stop shortly after beginning a new cycle and make a clicking sound, two close clicks three times. There is a very slight burning smell. If I attempt to restart the cycle it will just give me the clicking and sit there. If do not turn off the unit, it will restart on its own and continue the cycle as if nothing has happened. The dryer is 6 years old, and I've yet to replace any parts, I assume I'm due for a belt, but don't just want to go spending the little money I have replacing things that aren't broken. I want to get what I need and get it fixed at a minimal cost. I disassembled the dryer and cleaned it out, removing the drum and everything. The unit has nary a speck of lint in there. The exhaust line is clean, and the outside vent is clean as well. The oddest (and most concerning thing) is that I can get it to run, but only if the lid is off. I am a DIYer so I just need guidance on what I should invest in to repair this issue. I'm not finding any info on any of the repair sites that match my circumstances so I'm finally asking this question.
Answer Hello Monica. It sounds like the motor is overheating. Check and make sure the drum is not binding. If not, replace the motor on the unit. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, March 17, 2014
