John January 20, 2023 for Model Number DLG3461V My LG dryer powers on fine, responds to changes on the control panel, but when I hit the start button, I hear a click and then nothing happens. The motor will not start, it does not buzz or anything, just complete silence. The control display counts down as if the dryer were running all the way to the end of the cycle. I replaced the PCB Main Assembly (main control circuit board) a $250+ part, but nothing different happens. I'm thinking it is a motor problem, but there is no indication the motor even tries to start. Any help would be appreciated.
1 Answer John, It would be recommended to check the motor to ensure that you have 120 Vac getting to the motor. If there is then it would be a motor issue. Read More...
Justin February 08, 2021 for Model Number DLEX3370W I have a LG dryer,Model number DLEX3370W.I have a weird problem going on with it.The dryer is turned off, nothing showing or turned on the display screen of dryer. The minute you close the door the dryer starts running and basket turning. You open the door and it stops running. With the door open, you also push in the door switch and dryer start running and spinning,it does not try to heat,it jump runs. You let go of button and it stops.I pulled the dryer completely apart to inspect heat strip and motor and noticed nothing obvious. Also inspected main board for dryer and noticed nothing obvious.Could your please possibly point me in a direction of other parts it coulod possibly be and how to check them out to see if they might be the problem. Thanks for your time.
1 Answer Justin, Based on the information provided it sounds as if you have a motor relay stuck closed. this relay will be part of the control board assembly part# AGM75370001 Read More...
Martin September 08, 2019 for Model Number DLE5977 LG Electric Dryer Our dryer stopped tumbling. All indications on the control screen seemed normal. After opening the top chasis cover I noticed that the belt was broken so I removed it. I had the "aha" moment for a couple seconds...but then, I thought what could have done this? Old age, OR is the resistance on the drum too high that it put excessive stress on the belt causing the failure. SO..I tried rotating the drum by hand and in doing so it takes a bit of a pull and does not coast much at all, maybe an inch or two if I really give it a pull. Is this normal? I'm worried that I'll replace the belt and it will break soon or even worse, burn out the motor. Since the belt is cheap $15, I'm going to order the belt, but I thought I'd get your feedback on what is normal. I will do a clean up once inside the unit.
1 Answer Martin, the drum should be able to rotate counterclockwise with a small amount of resistance. If there is a lot of resistance, then it is possible one or more rollers 4581EL3001E could be seizing up. The rollers should be inspected for any sign of rotation not being freely moving or signs of flat spots occurring. Read More...
Greg April 11, 2019 for Model Number LG model DLG8388WM Recently replaced the front drum rollers and vacuumed the entire inside cabinet. Upon reassembling the dryer and drying a load of clothes I paused the dryer to redistribute the clothes but when I pressed the pause button to restart the dryer it would only make a humming noise. I had to wait an hour before the dryer would restart. The same problem now occurs every time I pause and restart the dryer. The unit is approx. 8 yrs old. The drum spins freely by hand. Motor?
1 Answer Greg, with the power disconnected, you may want to check the motor windings. With the centrifugal switch in the normal state, you should read between 2-3 ohms from terminal 4 to 5. Then with the centrifugal switch engaged, terminal 4 to 5 should read between 3-5 ohms. If these readings are not measured within tolerance, then you have a bad motor [4681EL1008A]. Read More...
Clarence February 12, 2019 for Model Number DLG2051W The dryer will not turn on. Checked fuse okay. Replaced door switch. Nothing.
1 Answer Clarence, If the unit will not power up at all then check the wiring between the main board and the user interface. If the wiring checks ok then this will likely be a faulty main control board. Read More...
Valerie June 04, 2018 for Model Number DLE2514W I recently received an answer from you regarding my dryer that wouldn't restart after stopping it part way through a load. I removed the top and turned the drum manually and it did start again. I used it for a couple of loads that needed drying and it seemed to work fine the second load by pushing the start button. I then tried another load and once again had to start it by turning the drum. Do I need a new belt or how can I tell if simething is binding as you suggested in your last answer?
1 Answer Valerie, With this issue it almost sounds like the motor will be the issue. It would be suggested to take the drum out and vacuum inside the unit really good especially around the motor as it may be that the centrifugal switch is not making in the motor because of lint build up inside the dryer. Valerie May 30, 2018 for Model Number DLE2514W My dryer powers on but will only give me a humming buzzing sound when I press start. Prior to this if I pulled some clothes out before a cycle ended and tried to start it again it wouldn't start until it completely cooled down. How do I figure out which part I need. I have a multimeter but not sure how to use it.
1 Answer Valerie, You will want to check to see if the drum is rotating properly by hand, there will be a little resistance but should turn easily. If this checks ok then look for something stuck in the blower wheel. Also check for anything that may be causing it to bind. If this checks ok then the issue will be a possible faulty motor but sounds like something is binding. Read More...
Tim September 08, 2017 for Model Number dlgx2651w My Gas LG dryer started making a very loud motor sound and then would shutoff after about 3 seconds. I checked the belt, pulleys, and drum. Cleaned out the lint from the unit and checked the blower assembly for debris, all was clear. After doing all this I ordered and installed a new motor assembly. Just got the unit back together and it is still making the same sound and shutting off after a few seconds. After waiting about a minute I can repeat restarting the unit. Wondering if this could be a power issue from the main control board?
1 Answer Tim, If the unit turns off after 3 seconds would suggest checking to make sure that the rollers are not binding as this would be the most likely cause for this issue. Read More...
Matt April 26, 2017 for Model Number DLEX5170W My dryer keeps shutting down before the clothes are dry. If I tape the start button down the dryer will run. If I leave it it takes a whole day to dry clothes. I replaced the circuit board thinking it was the start button. I am now thinking the motor is overheating.
1 Answer Matt, You will want to check the venting of the unit to make sure that the venting is clear. If the venting all the way to the outside of the home is clear then it would most likely be a issue with the motor. Read More...
Dave December 09, 2016 for Model Number dle5001w Can I get just the switch that is mounted to the motor housing. It's the one that is operated by the centrifugal actuator on the motor shaft. it switches the voltage from the motor starting coils to the running coils.
1 Answer Hello Dave. No, you will need to order the motor assembly to replace the switch on the unit. Read More...
