Martin for Model Number DLE5977 LG Electric Dryer Our dryer stopped tumbling. All indications on the control screen seemed normal. After opening the top chasis cover I noticed that the belt was broken so I removed it. I had the "aha" moment for a couple seconds...but then, I thought what could have done this? Old age, OR is the resistance on the drum too high that it put excessive stress on the belt causing the failure. SO..I tried rotating the drum by hand and in doing so it takes a bit of a pull and does not coast much at all, maybe an inch or two if I really give it a pull. Is this normal? I'm worried that I'll replace the belt and it will break soon or even worse, burn out the motor. Since the belt is cheap $15, I'm going to order the belt, but I thought I'd get your feedback on what is normal. I will do a clean up once inside the unit.
Answer Martin, the drum should be able to rotate counterclockwise with a small amount of resistance. If there is a lot of resistance, then it is possible one or more rollers 4581EL3001E could be seizing up. The rollers should be inspected for any sign of rotation not being freely moving or signs of flat spots occurring. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, September 9, 2019
