Frank for Model Number LG DLG5988W My dryer doesn't heat up and there is a gas smell coming from the exhaust vent. Would this indicate a bad gas valve since it won't release gas unless the igniter is drawing current?
Answer Frank, In order for the gas valve to open the igniter must draw a current. If there is a gas smell without the igniter lighting the burner then you will want to check to make sure that the burner does not have rust on the ports or clogs.
