Manufacturer Part Number: 5318EL3001A

The Dryer Ignitor is an OEM part for LG dryers. It is crucial for the ignition process in gas dryers, responsible for lighting the gas burner that provides heat for drying clothes. This ignitor must heat up to a high temperature to ignite the gas, and its proper function is essential for the dryer to operate safely and efficiently.

Symptoms of a bad Dryer Ignitor include:

  • The dryer not heating up, even though all other functions are working correctly.
  • The gas valve opening but no flame being produced, indicating the ignitor isn't reaching the necessary temperature.
  • Intermittent heating, where the dryer sometimes produces heat and other times does not.

Causes of a bad dryer ignitor can include thermal fuse issues, a broken or malfunctioning ignitor due to wear and tear, or electrical problems affecting power delivery to the ignitor.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Kenmore models.

Hello Chris. My first guess is a weak coil on the gas burner valve assembly 5221EL2002A. I would make a few checks before ordering any parts. There are two solenoids on the gas valve. Make sure neither one is open (no continuity) or shorted (0 resistance). Also you need to make sure your exhaust isn't crimped, restricted or too long and complicated. Be aware that if you have flexible ducting and it is wadded up behind the unit, the dryer cannot operate properly. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter and make sure it is getting hot enough to light the gas. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
