The Fan Motor is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It is essential for circulating air throughout the refrigerator and freezer compartments to ensure a consistent and even temperature. This air circulation is crucial for proper food preservation and to prevent warm spots or frost buildup, which can occur when air does not circulate properly.

Symptoms of a bad Fan Motor include:

  • The refrigerator making unusual noises such as humming or buzzing, which may indicate the motor is struggling.
  • Poor cooling performance, with parts of the refrigerator warmer than usual.
  • The refrigerator cycling on and off more frequently, which can be a sign of the motor overheating.

Causes of a bad fan motor can include wear and tear from continuous use, accumulation of dust or debris in the fan, or electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a burned-out motor.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Answer

Kenmore, in regards to the freezer being blocked up with ice, this could be a failure with the defrost sensor fuse assembly 6615JB2005R or the defrost heater MEE62105217. The temperature in the refrigerator section would most likely be caused by a failing thermistor 6500JB2001B. The thermistor should measure 30KO at 32°F, and 24.1KO at 41°F. The defrost heater should measure between 34-42O and the sensor should measure more than 22KO while the fuse of the assembly should have continuity.
