The Fan Motor is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It is essential for circulating air throughout the refrigerator and freezer compartments to ensure a consistent and even temperature. This air circulation is crucial for proper food preservation and to prevent warm spots or frost buildup, which can occur when air does not circulate properly.

Symptoms of a bad Fan Motor include:

  • The refrigerator making unusual noises such as humming or buzzing, which may indicate the motor is struggling.
  • Poor cooling performance, with parts of the refrigerator warmer than usual.
  • The refrigerator cycling on and off more frequently, which can be a sign of the motor overheating.

Causes of a bad fan motor can include wear and tear from continuous use, accumulation of dust or debris in the fan, or electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a burned-out motor.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

For Lg Fan Motor (Part Number: OEM17850252)

Jb for Model Number LFXS29766S/00

I have a LG LFXS29766S/00 frig with two ice makers. one is in the freezer (it works) and one is in the door (Quit Working along with the water dispenser). The error code is EIF (Abnormality of BLDC Fan Motor for Ice Maker) per LG website. Question I have there are two fans in the freezer compartment, the one on the left looking in, it appears it blows air to the freezer compartments ice maker. The center fan (per LG the fan in the middle is referred to as a evaporator fan)what motor is needed for this?) I have been told I need a new ice maker, or told I need a new ice fan. If it is in fact the ice fan which fan…or motor which one. I have reset, rebooted the frig several times, cleaned the coils, removed checked the ice maker in the door. When rebooting, water in the door works, ice maker in the door does not work, (within +/- 2 hours error code reappears then water also quits in the door. The ice maker in the freezer makes ice all the time.but ice maker in the door does not work The frig is 11 years old all worked great until about 7 days ago. Thanks for any help. JB

I asked a question earlier today, and you suggested checking behind the panel to see if the coils were impacted with ice. The unit was unplugged and doors were opened for 36 hours to defrost, you suggest removing the panel to check the coils now that it has been back on for 24 hours? Will this (sensor), if bad, also impact the ice maker not working, and is this the correct part number for the sensor 6500JB2001B ? I wasn't sure if there was a different defrost sensor, or if they are one in the same? Thank you

Keith, it would be recommended that the evaporator is inspected since the unit has been operating for 24 hours as this will certainly help identify what kind of frost pattern is occurring on the evaporator. If there is an ice build-up on the evaporator, the defrost heater assembly MEE62805303 could be the potential cause. Ice build-up on the evaporator can block up the ice maker fan located on the left side of the freezer, causing the ice maker to be unable to produce ice.

Used Smart Diagnostic system (tones) with LG Customer Service after items in the freezer started to get soft. Ice Maker also stopped working. Something was constantly running (humming), but diagnostic report concluded it was possibly defrost sensor, or unit needed to be manually defrosted. Unit was unplugged for 24 hours, then plugged back in, but it's still the same. Freezer and Frig are cold, but something is still not getting cold air to ice maker, and something is still running. Though sometimes the whole unit becomes totally silent, like it should. I utilized the reset button on the mother board before, and reset (test) showed compressor and fan on bottom are working, and both inside top/bottom cooling fans were working. Could this be the defrost sensor, please help. Not sure how this is related to the ice maker. This was also tested, and the tray turns, but water is not freezing in tray. Thank you!!

Keith, You will want to remove the rear panel inside the freezer and check to see if the coils are impacted with ice. If they are then this would be a defrost system failure in which the defrost sensor could be the issue.

Riduan, Based on the description provided I would check the evaporator fan motor for ice build-up or for a bad motor and replace it as needed.

Gregory, This issue would most likely be caused by the ice fan but would suggest making sure that there is no more ice blocking the fan.

Hello Ricky, the code indicates the main control board is seeing a problem with the compressor working correctly, which is also causing the higher than normal temperatures. This is considered a sealed system problem, usually, with this LG model the compressor will need to be replaced along with a software update to the main control board. This will require a service technician to confirm and complete the repair.

Hello Steve, this fan motor runs on 12vdc supplied by the control board, the fan motor cannot be tested separately with a multimeter, you would need to power it externally with a 12vdc power supply. In cases like this, the motor (load) is replaced first in case it is faulty and possibly has damaged the control board circuit, if the new motor still does not run the control board is replaced next. You can also check for 12vdc from the control at the motor with the motor installed in the ref.
