Steve for Model Number LFX25960ST I finally found the solenoid on my fridge (posted a question earlier today about it) and did some testing. The water dispenser works but when I run the ice machine test cycle without the ice water line connected, only a few drops of water comes out of the valve assembly. What do I need to replace to fix the ice side of the valve assembly?
Answer Hi Steve. The ice maker water valve is the single one part # MJX41178908. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Make sure while testing, you get 120 vac to the water valve. If so then replace if you only get drips out of it. Use the ohms scale and see if you get resistance on the water valve coils. Make sure the terminals are not separately grounded to the water valve mount. (o-ohms). If the water valve solenoid coils are open or shorted then it will not allow the opening of the solenoid mechanically. If it is internally stuck then it will not open as well. Thank You. Read More...
