Keri for Model Number 721.69123010 Our 4 year old Kenmore microwave won't turn on. We set the cook time and hit "start," but the turntable doesn't turn and the microwave doesn't heat. The clock counts down, and I think the interior light goes on, but that's it -- no heating/cooking. From reading on this website, I see others remedied this problem by replacing door switches. I see there are at least 2 switches listed. My questions are: (1) which switches do I need to purchase and how many of each, (2) do I need a torx bit or other special tool to get into the panel (some customers talk about needing a certain tool) and (3) does this repair require discharging the capacitor? Thanks very much!
Answer Hello Keri. You will need to test the switches to see which one you need to replace. Most do require a torx safety bit to remove the cabinet. Also it is always best to discharge capacitor when working on a microwave. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
