Greg for Model Number LG dryer DLE0442 replaced heating element approx 8 months ago. dryer has stopped heating again. which part/parts is most likely bad this time?
Answer Greg, it would be recommended that the incoming power supply is tested for 240VAC at the terminal block. If there is proper voltage, the power cord would need to be unplugged, the element 5301EL1001H accessed, and the hi-limit 6931EL3003D and safety thermostats 6931EL3001E tested for continuity. Both thermostats should have continuity at room temperature and the heater coils should measure 10 Ohms of resistance from the top terminal to the middle terminal, then from the top terminal to the bottom terminal. The blower thermistor 6323EL2001B should measure 10 Ohms at room temperature as well. If these things check good, disconnect the red wire going from the hi-limit thermostat to the heating element and secure it so that it does not touch any metal. The dryer will need to be plugged back in and voltage would need to be tested at the element where the red wire plugs into the element while a cycle is started. If there is voltage, the motor 4681EL1008A has failed. If there is not, then the main control EBR33640911 (unfortunately, this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available) has failed. Read More...
