Allan for Model Number Rf28hfedtsr The evap fan in the refridge is making a loud noise when running. The fan turns off when the door opens, and the noise stops. Usually this noise would indicate ice buildup at the coils hitting the fan as it has done in the past. Running a forced defrost cycle a few times and then taking the back panel off, there was no ice. Does the bearings in the fan motor go bad? Do I change out the fan assembly... or is it just one piece and housing, fan blades and motor separate parts? What part(s) options should I consider?
Answer Allan, Make sure this noise is not coming from the ice maker box, pull out the ice bin and check for ice build up. If the fan in the refrigerator is the problem and there is no damage to the back panel causing the fan to hit it then replace the fan. DA97-12815B Read More...
