Musico for Model Number RF25HMEDBSR

model number: rf25hmedbsr I have replaced all sensors in the fridge and the heating element the main board and the inverter board. freezer works and flex zone works. but fridge still does not go below 50. i also have changed the evap fan several times. im out of options the only thing i can think is that the harness where i hook up the evap fan is shorted or damaged. how do you go about changing that. this samsung fridge has been such a nightmare to own.

1 Answer

Musico, if the evaporator is not blocked up with ice and the freezer thermistor checks ok, there would likely be a wire failure in the liner for the refrigerator section. Unfortunately, any wires in the liner of the refrigerator are not accessible nor repairable.

Musico for Model Number rf25hmedbsg

I have a rf25hmedbsg fridge. i have replaced every sensor and fan in the fridge section, it measures 37F on the display but its 60F inside. I had a samsung tech come over and still the same issue, i also get no codes. Freezer and Flexzone working properly. i did add a secondary heater. when i opened it, it was frozen over, but was not restricting, fan operation. what else could be wrong. I'm hoping i dont have to buy a new fridge . please guide me to the best possible outcome. thanks

Musico, If the evaporator was completely iced over then this will be a defrost issue and you will want to test the defrost bimetal, heater to see if they are good. If they are then this will be a faulty control board.

Vicky, This just sounds like an issue with the evaporator fan motor that would need to be replaced.

John for Model Number RF28HDEDTSR/AA

Good morning. 2 weeks ago the fridge was making a discernible noise. Noise would go away and run fine and quiet for another week. Noise came back and it was at the mid point of the back, not the compressor. I looked on the web and found that the noise was most likely associated with the Evaporator fan motor failing. I am going to buy the replacement part from you since the repair vid you have is great. My question is is there any other parts i should order or just start with the fan. I read some of the postings on your site and some persons replaced the temp sensor and other parts. My fridge does not have any error codes as i don't have the screen on the right door that looks like a laptop. Our fridge is from 2015 I think. Another observation, I did however take off the back panel and saw a processor board. Are there any lights i can read there ? I have a red light but do not know how to decipher it. I'll wait for your reply and any other things i could check before I order the evap fan. The freezer works fine. Its the upper fridge thats NG. Thanks for your input and help in advance. John

John, it is recommended that the evaporator is inspected in the refrigerator section and freezer section to identify if either have become congested with ice around the fan. If there is ice around either fan, it can cause a noise and it will indicate that either the defrost drain is not clearing properly (drain would need to be cleared) or that there is a defrost issue. In the case of a defrost issue, the defrost heater and evaporator thermistor would need to be checked. Testing information can vary depending on the location of the failure.

Dan, Thanks for the question!!! If the lights did not go out then the door switch is bad or not properly bypassed. If it is not bypassed properly then the fan would not run. I would look for a tech sheet for your fridge and try a diagnostics mode to check for error codes. Typically when the fan fails there will be an error code indicating so.

Hari, as the fan is operating properly and is providing a good feedback signal, the failure would be in the main control.

Hello Mark, if the fan motor is operating, you have replaced the defrost heater and the defrost thermistor which is secured to the evap coils, the evap coil drain is not blocked, the evap cover is in place, the ref door is closing and the gasket is sealing, and the evap coil is not defrosting then the main control board DA92-00420T which controls the defrost cycles should be replaced.

Allan for Model Number Rf28hfedtsr

The evap fan in the refridge is making a loud noise when running. The fan turns off when the door opens, and the noise stops. Usually this noise would indicate ice buildup at the coils hitting the fan as it has done in the past. Running a forced defrost cycle a few times and then taking the back panel off, there was no ice. Does the bearings in the fan motor go bad? Do I change out the fan assembly... or is it just one piece and housing, fan blades and motor separate parts? What part(s) options should I consider?

1 Answer

Allan, Make sure this noise is not coming from the ice maker box, pull out the ice bin and check for ice build up. If the fan in the refrigerator is the problem and there is no damage to the back panel causing the fan to hit it then replace the fan. DA97-12815B
