Michael for Model Number RF31FMESBSR/AA-0000

Our Samsung ice maker started to only produce crushed ice, and eventually only dispensed water. I'm not positive because we have lazily been using bagged ice for over a year, and our plumber just disconnected the water line from the ice maker for what was supposed to be a week or two for us to get whatever part was necessary. Now, it's been over a year and I asked our plumber what specific part did I need to order so that we could have a functional ice and water dispenser. He told me that instead of getting one specific part, that I should just order a "parts kit" and for me to get the model # from the refrigerator. Please advise as to what I should order from your company. Our plumber is coming next Wednesday, and I would really like to fix this issue. Thank you for your support.

Answer

Michael, Not sure what parts kit the plumber is looking for but if the unit is not making ice then the icemaker would most likely be the cause of this issue. The icemaker for this unit would be part number DA97-15217D. You have to be very careful when installing this icemaker as there is a evaporator loop that runs under it and you will have to lower the cover that is on the bottom to get it out. To do this you will remove the screw at the front of the icemaker and there get a flat blade screwdriver in the groove of the cover and pry it to the right. Once you do this you will let the cover drop and you will see a silver loop at the bottom of the icemaker that you will gently need to pull down on just a little to get the icemaker past this loop.
